Introduction to role
Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of oncology? Do you have the passion for science and the skills to drive employee engagement strategies in a leading biopharmaceutical company? At AstraZeneca, we're seeking a Communications Director in Mississauga to help us achieve our vision of eliminating cancer as a cause of death. As part of the Global Oncology Corporate Affairs team, you'll partner with the Global Oncology Commercial Digital Health and Commercial Diagnostics functions. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the growth of the AZ Oncology Business Unit and driving employee engagement to meet business performance objectives. Join us in shaping the future of cancer care through innovative communications programs and partnerships.
Accountabilities
Collaborate with leaders to develop integrated communication strategies focused on employee engagement and executive communications.
Create and implement a core narrative for Oncology Digital Health and Diagnostics.
Drive thought leadership activities and support external speaking engagements.
Advise and coach executives on effective communications for key events and activities.
Partner with leads to deliver congress and conference communications strategies.
Support business collaboration announcements and ensure alignment across Oncology.
Collaborate with AZ Communication Leads for strategic integration and alignment.
Measure and optimize communication channel performance.
Develop global strategic internal communications to connect employees to our purpose.
Lead communication planning for flagship events.
Champion the use of communication channels like WorkVivo across the function.
Lead content delivery and prioritize internal messages.
Develop senior thought leadership platforms for external audiences.
Write, edit, and proofread high-quality communications material.
Manage content for internal meetings and social collaboration tools.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or related field
Extensive communications experience
Experience of working in large scale multinational companies
Experience of driving ground-breaking change communications and working cross functionally
Sophisticated internal communications skills (including management of new digital/video tools and copywriting)
Good understanding of all aspects of the pharmaceutical industry
Communications agency management
Ability to mentor and influence senior leaders on their communication effectiveness
Ability to set and manage priorities, resources, goals, and project initiatives
First-rate coordination, collaboration, organization and multitasking skills
Project management skills
Desirable Skills/Experience
Solid understanding of the role of the pharmaceutical industry and the strategic importance of diagnostics and digital health to deliver business objectives
